Tapers notes:

Although I had been a fan since Moondawn, still one of my Top 5 LPs ever, I had never seen Klaus Schulze live.

I can't remember how I decided to go to Copenhagen, as in retrospect he certainly played closer to Italy than that, but I know that as soon as I found out he was touring Europe in 1983 I decided not to miss it!

I was living half in Milan and half in London at the time, spending most of my time on trains (thanks to the magic of Inter-Rail!) as my "job", at the time was buying records in Milan and selling them at record fairs in the UK. That is, when I was not too busy seeing Peter Gabriel shows around Europe...

I remember reading about the Danish show and on a whim I decided to go and risk it even without having a ticket.

It was a fantastic railway/boat trip which got me into Copenhagen in about 22 or 23 hours, in the late hours of the afternoon, just in time to get to the club where the concert was going to take place, buy a ticket, meet another guy from Stockholm there for Schulze too, share a couple of beers and take my seat for the show...

I just learned a few months ago – reading it on the web – that those months and years were some of KS's “worst” (Alcohol troubles et al...), but it definitely was not so from my visual and aural memory of the night.

In fact, at the end of the concert I was ecstatic while I walked to the station: and at about half past midnight I caught another train straight back to Milan, less than 8 hours after having arrived in Denmark!

What you get here is my master freshly digitized at 96khz/24bits: for those high resolution inclined, be forewarned that I have already passed on the original files to Tom Phillips (who did such a great job on the 1977 Koln show I posted some time ago – originally taped by Brinkhoffs, may his Pink soul rest in peace in Floyd land forever!): he is quite busy on a lot of different projects, but a new (re)master will come from him at a certain point in the future...

As always, I hope you'll enjoy it
